Seaside Activities

The pedestrian walkway of Sea Point is gorgeous, lined as it is with green lawns, comfy benches and a drooping string of fairy lights.

Sea Point Pavilion is a popular attraction and has beautiful green lawns, various sized swimming pools to cater for the whole family.

A stroll along the Prom is remarkably pleasant, and a dip at the large salt water pool of the Sea Point Pavilion is a good way to cool off. There are various fun activities for the whole family as well, including putt-putt golf, a train ride for the kids, sculptures to view and an outdoor gym. Residents enjoy walking their dogs, jogging and socialising on the Promenade.

Scenic Drive

Your scenic drive starts along Beach Road and passing Sea Point Promenade, known as the Riviera of the Cape Peninsula.

At the end of Sea Point Main Road, it does a small left/right and turns into Victoria Drive. Wedged between the steep sides of Lion’s Head and the crashing waves of the Atlantic, this two-lane thoroughfare is a marvel of engineering and a delight to drive.

However, it is woefully inadequate for the purposes of modern road transportation and, in season, Victoria Drive becomes one long, winding traffic jam as everyone (and all their mates from Joburg) converge on the trendy beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay.

If you want to miss the traffic, try taking Kloof Road which runs high on the cliffs, above and parallel to Victoria Drive. This useful road leads from Sea Point and can either be followed up to Kloof Nek, or down to rejoin Victoria Drive just before Camps Bay.

Either way, the views from the car are unsurpassable, and both Victoria Drive and Kloof Road takes you on a trip through the heart of opulent Cape Town living, as epitomised by the high-life of Clifton.

Scuba Diving

Diving and exploring the various shipwrecks, Sea Point.

When visiting Sea Point, make sure to go on scuba diving adventure. There are various companies where you can learn all the basics of diving and see how you like it (you will!).

There are plenty of other fun courses to add to those as well, like underwater photography, night diving, underwater navigation etc. The dives themselves are spectacular, you can snorkel or dive with seals, explore various shipwrecks or take the plunge and swim with seven gill cow sharks or blue sharks.

There are reef dives where you swim through kelp forests and explore a reef abundant in countless marine life.
