Scottburgh is a town set along a magical stretch of sunny coastline washed by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean in KwaZulu-Natal. Sugar-sand beaches, lush indigenous forests and magnificent rolling hills combine to make this the perfect dorp in which to partake in snorkelling, swimming, diving and surfing.
This rambling seaside village came into existence when some intrepid souls drifted south from Durban during the early 1800s. They discovered a climate ideal for growing sugar cane and founded Scottburgh in 1860, naming it after Sir John Scott, Natal’s Lieutenant Governor.
Scottburgh has become a thriving coastal resort and boasts no less than three magnificent golf courses. Abundant birdlife flourishes in the beautiful gardens and trees lining the streets, as well as along the Mpambanyoni River and in the Robertson Nature Reserve.
