Laid Back Luxury - Activities
Samara Karoo Reserve, Eastern Cape

Set off on early morning game drives traversing the Samara plains with your knowledgeable guide interpreting the antics of the game that you spot along the way.

Game Viewing

In the cool of the afternoon set out again for the second part of the show. Watch the game head towards the water holes and rivers for a refreshing drink before settling down for the night. As you, head back to camp as the night draws in, look for the nocturnal predators, as they awake and prepare for the night time hunt.

Bush Walks

Take a walk on the wild side and ditch the vehicle. Meander the plains on foot, with your guide and discover the smaller creatures that live in the reserve. Learn about scent trails and territory markings that many animals leave behind them.

Distinguish between the various scents as you breathe in the heady fresh air. Listen to the sounds of the bush, free from the drone of an engine. Heighten all of your senses as you close in on a rhino, who is oblivious to your presence. Watch in wonder as you realise the size of the game from this new perspective. You’ll form a new respect to nature after this bush walk.

Discover the constellations together using the star books, as you cuddle on a handmade four poster bed high up on a raised platform, with the savanna below. Snuggle under the mohair blanket and drift off to sleep under the stars. Wake up at the blush of dawn and witness the break of a new day.
