Distinctively Different - Activities
Sabi Sands, Kruger National Park
Savanna Lodge has experienced tracker guides with a lifetime of knowledge of the African bush.
Game Viewing
There is the option of joining an early morning or evening game drive. They have all undergone extensive training in the art of tracking animals. Each drive includes a coffee or sundowner stop, which provides a nice little pick-me-up as you continue your sightseeing in the African bush. Look out for the Big 5 as well as a variety of birds and buck.
Family Safari
Savanna Lodge offers a family friendly safari in the Sabi Sands. A childminder is available at all times on request. There is also the option for a private ranger, tracker and vehicle.
These personalised game drives are wonderful for families as they consider your family’s needs. There is also a special Bushbabies programme in place to ensure that the younger guests are kept entertained while also learning. They can take part in various activities such as Small Five tracking, plant identification, traditional hair braiding, butterfly and bug catching.
Bush Dining
Gourmet dining is an essential component of this classic safari lodge. From full English breakfasts to candle-lit dinners, with traditional cuisine. Dinner can be served on the deck of the main lodge, in the vintage train cart or around a fire in the open-air 'boma'. Guests are often treated to a performance of the local choir, or are joined by the tracker-guides who are always happy to share some entertaining stories from their time in the bush.
Cultural Village Tour
Guides can also take families or groups on a local Shangaan village tour. This involves a visit to Lilydale. You will meet a traditional healer and learn about how people in this community live and prepare their food. There is also the opportunity to catch a performance by the traditional dancers and the option for a visit to the Lilydale Primary School.
