Eco-friendly game viewing is a standard feature at Cheetah Plains, complete with electric Land Cruiser safari vehicles, specifically initiated by the Sabi Sand owner, Japie van Niekerk.

Game Viewing

Thanks to this introduction, you can marvel at the local leopards, lions, rhinoceroses, elephants, kudu, giraffe, bird species and a continuum of animals indigenous to the African plains, all while safely onboard a zero-emission vehicle.

Game drives take place during the morning and late afternoon for optimal opportunity to sight the above-mentioned animals. Each electric safari vehicle has a maximum of 8 bucket seats, with a recline level of 11 degrees for added comfort. Additionally, onboard binoculars and a professional Nikon D850 camera with a telephoto lens, are provided to ensure you get to capture your trip both in comfort and crystal clear style.

Bush Walks

Guided interpretive bush walks are on offer, allowing you the chance to fully immerse yourself in the wild, and walk away with a nuanced appreciation of the bush ecosystem that makes life possible in the great outdoors.

Maintaining your workout schedule is easy with the on-site, climate-controlled gym, that is kitted with the prerequisite modern equipment for all your training needs.

Cheetah Plains Cub Club

At Cheetah Plains, family always comes first. This means that children of all ages are welcomed and catered for. The custom children’s safari program, Cheetah Cub Club, is specifically tailored for children under the age of 12. The program has a heady mix of educational and excitement ensuring that the little ones are stimulated in a balanced way. Each child receives a complimentary backpack filled with engaging activities for the kiddies to do on their safari stay.

Children are also permitted on game drives of an age-appropriate duration and interpretive walks in the garden allowing them ample opportunity to learn more about the African wilderness.

Village Trip

While at Cheetah Plains private game reserve, you can visit the nearby village, Utah, where many of the staff live. These guided visits, offer a glimpse into local tradition, particularly that of the local Shangaan culture.
