Whales frolicing along the coastline of Robberg Nature Reserve, Western Cape.

Just outside of Plettenberg Bay lies the rocky Robberg Peninsula, home to the Robberg Nature Reserve. It’s not only home to the reserve, but houses a national monument and is a protected marine area. Visitors come to the area for its natural splendour and its abundance of marine life - hundreds of Cape fur seals, dolphins and whales frolic around the coastline.

Rocks from the Robberg region date back 120 million years and evidence of middle and later Stone Age habitation has been found in a few of the caves along the peninsula. There are various accommodation options at Plettenberg Bay, and popular activities at the reserve includes hiking, swimming, bird watching and fishing within one nautical mile of the peninsula.
