Game drives head out in the morning and in the evening at Pumba Private Game Reserve.
It is home to the second known free-ranging, self-sustainable population of white lions in Southern Africa. Since its opening, this private reserve and spa in the Eastern Cape tracker-guidess have tracked spoor and scat of leopard, that has been found near the drainage lines of the river courses which meander through the reserve.
These are highly elusive creatures but the chance of a lucky sighting is always there. Game Drives will last around 2.5 hours, and once you are finished with your morning drive, you can enjoy a lunch in outside boma.
With over 300 bird species within this area, game reserve is an ideal location for birding enthusiasts. A good spot to see some water bird action is in the hide which is located next to the lake. Under the guidance of well-trained trail guides, you are in for a treat. In the heart of the South African bushveld you will get to observe smaller creatures-insects, reptiles and even fish. Keep an ear out for the call of the fish eagle as you go.
Children under the age of 6 years are allowed at the private game reserve but only by prior arrangement. Special game drives can be arranged for families with children at an additional cost which lasts around an hour after breakfast.
Your little ones will seek out plants and animals with the guides, and will also get to make plaster casts of their findings. They will even learn to make a fire in the boma so that they can roast some marshmallows while listening to some storytelling. There is also a range of games and DVDs in the library.
