Your Experience

This elevated personal sanctuary offers superb service in the most unique accommodation in Kruger National Park. Kruger Shalati Train on the Bridge is permanently stationed on the Selati Bridge above the Sabie River.

This refurbished historic train hotel celebrates where the first visits to Kruger National Park took place in the 1920s. Kruger Shalati is located in the exact spot where the train would overnight. Trains still ran through Kruger Park until 1973, thereafter most of the tracks were removed, leaving the bridge as a permanent feature of the Skukuza scenery.

Kruger Shalati The Train on the Bridge accommodates guests in 24 Carriage Rooms located high up on the Selati Bridge and 7 Bridge House Rooms which are located on the ground. Giant windows ensure spectacular views from the rooms and the bathtub. Imagine soaking in the tub while the sun sets and elephants, buffalo and hippos wander past.

Delicious meals are served at the Bridge House Restaurant which is all-inclusive, along with high tea and house drinks. A nearby attraction is the Kruger Station which has been converted into a lifestyle precinct with restaurants, a deli, ice-cream cafe, kids zone and a 360-degree cinema showing wildlife movies.

The sunken deck at the Bridge House offers a refuge to read, daydream or watch wildlife pass by. Enjoy game viewing without even having to drive anywhere!

Morning and evening game drives are complemented by high tea and sundowner drinks and snacks. Kruger National Park is home to the Big 5 wildlife and your expert safari guide will try to show you as many of these magnificent creatures as possible during your stay.
