When you see the thatched roofs nudging through the Leadwood trees, you will know that you have arrived at Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge. Upon your arrival, you will be met with big smiles and the sound of traditional songs, which sets the tone for this accommodation in the Kruger Park.
With only 6 suites available, this private haven captures the essence of the Tsonga culture. It is shaped like a traditional village homestead with burnt orange coloured walls paying homage to traditional huts made from rich, earthy mud. The interiors are decorated with artwork from the local community which mixes well with chic furnishings.
Don’t be deterred by the word “hut”, there is definitely no compromise on comfort here. Located on the banks of the Mluwati river, this traditional accommodation in the Kruger Park is set upon an ancient elephant route. From the viewing deck, you are able to witness these loveable giants as they head down to drink at the waterhole.
Keep an eye out for the resident kingfisher too. Take part in game drives and bush walks, as well as outdoor dinners around the campfire. If you are looking for something that breaks the more conventional lodge style safari accommodation, this is it. This Beehive chic Lodge does not accommodate for children under the age of 12.
