The Knysna Oyster Festival is a vibrant celebration of great South African cuisine, challenging sporting events and all-round family fun. The festival takes place annually across 10 days of winter, which includes two weekends. The programme is quite varied and includes an array of activities, including swimming at Knysna Lagoon, walking trails through Knysna Forest, a cycling challenge, live music events, comedy shows and amazing food stalls. There is, of course, plenty of oysters to try as well!
For those who want to amp up the outdoor fun, the Knysna Forest Marathon is the perfect opportunity for visitors to test their endurance skills. Runners can choose between a 21 km or a 42 km option, depending on their fitness level. The Knysna Cycle Tour is also a fun challenge, featuring both mountain biking and road bike racing. There are shorter bicycle races for families with energetic youngsters.
The Knysna Oyster Festival has an abundance of activities that are specifically designed for families, so you’ll have lots of great family moments while on walks and hikes, traversing through the beautiful landscapes that surround Knysna. There are also arts, and crafts, the IKASI Colour Fun Run (5 km), face painting, jumping castles, and more on offer for the little ones.
