Illovo is a beautiful little town on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal. It is a popular resort destination during the holiday season, and tourists visit the area for its gorgeous natural coastal forest, pristine beach and estuary.
The town’s name derives from the river that runs through it, named "iLovo" by the Zulu nation because of the mlovo trees growing on its banks. The name Illovo has also been applied to the sugar estate Illovo Sugar company, which is one of the largest sugar producers in Africa.
