The numerous towns in the Langeberg region - Swellendam, Robertson, Montagu, Greyton, McGregor - offer beautiful hiking trails suited for both beginners and experts. Some will challenge your endurance (the 5-day Kruispad hike in Swellendam) and others will simply delight nature lovers (the Dassieshoek Trail near Robertson).

The main hiking attraction in the Langeberg is undoubtedly the Swellendam NHW Trail, although a number of other excellent walks can be found. Newest of these is the Dassieshoek Trail just outside Robertson, and others are the Bloupunt and Cogmanskloof trails near Montagu. Between Mcgregor and Greyton lies the Boesmanskloof Trail (in the Riviersonderend Mountains). The Dassieshoek, Bloupunt, Cogmanskloof and Boesmanskloof Trails are one or two-day outings and are therefore perfectly suited to weekend ventures away from the urban hum or rural drum. Hiking the Langeberg will most certainly prove to be a picturesque, if not fun, activity.
