Wildlife Viewing

You can spend a lazy morning swinging in a hammock and watch the Hippos also known as Mpfuvu as they immerse themselves in the river. Or, watch the crocodiles as they sun themselves on the river banks.

Explore the Kruger National Park in your own vehicle, a 10 minute drive away from the estate or take an open 4x4 game drive with a guide. The Kruger National Park offers a vast wilderness area, scenic vistas and plentiful animal sightings.

Day Tours

Head out on a day tour from this accommodation to discover South Africa’s best attractions such as Pilgrim’s Rest, the Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window, and the Three Rondavels. You can opt to self drive and explore, or try out an organised tour.

Animal Centres

There are a number of animal centres near to Hippo Hollow that you can visit, such as Elephant Whispers, which is home to six rescued African elephants, The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre and the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre, where you can view lion, leopard, servals, caracals, honey badger, eagles and vultures up close.

Golf

You can enjoy a round of golf at the Sabi River Country Club in Hazyview, also set on the banks of the Sabie River. It is rated among the top 10 courses in South Africa and is one of only four 18 hole courses found in the Lowveld area.

A great spot for bird watching, sit back and enjoy the kingfishers, as they hover before swooping down to catch their lunch.
