Abundance of Wildlife

The newly proclaimed Marakele National Park is a wilderness region of unrivalled mountain scenery, with undulating valleys and sheer cliffs rearing up upon distant, broken plains. Drive to the top of Kransberg for incredible views and take time out to visit the extensive Cape vulture colony of approximately 800 breeding pairs.

Cape vulture or Cape griffon (Gyps coprotheres).

For Fifty shades of White, you must get up close and personal with beasts at the White Lion Breeding Facility just 9km outside Thabazimbi en route to the Marakele National Park. The spectacular Marakele National Park is characterized by sprawling mountainous landscapes, rolling hills and valleys, and an abundance of wildlife.

Saddle up for a rough ride through rugged and rocky terrain to spectacular viewpoints; game viewing, river crossings and mouth-watering venison dishes at the Bush Restaurant are just part of this amazing adventure.

There are dozens of day hikes and multi-day routes to choose from here in the Waterberg, but try to not miss out on the stunning panoramas at Berg en Stroom Trails (27 kilometres from Thabazimbi) situated high upon the Kransberg plateau.

Golf and Gorgeous Views

Play nine holes on the Thabazimbi Golf Course along greens shaded by gnarled trees alive with the sounds of birds and other wildlife. Then chill out while enjoying a massage at Soritzy. The Maroela Guest House is situated high up against Helshoogte, but the gorgeous views will certainly make it feel like heaven.

There are various outdoor activities in Mateke Game Farm.

The 2,000 hectares of Mateke Game Farm is located within the Waterberg Biosphere, and is blessed to have the perennial Mamba River flowing the entire length of the farm. Get outside for great hiking, mountain biking and 4x4 (Vehicle) routes.

The Mokolo Dam is a mecca for anglers in search of largemouth bass, but also delivers big time when it comes to sunset cruises, watersport and birding.
