One of the most beautiful of the National Hiking Way System trails is the Swellendam Trail, on which hikers follow a circular route around the main peaks in the Marloth Reserve. The mountains in this part of the Langeberg form prominent peaks and rocky ridges with forested ravines, and in early summer are carpeted with pink ericas.
Misty Point, at 1 710m making it the highest peak of the range, is usually climbed only by mountaineers, but Twelve O'Clock Peak is accessible to hikers, who can follow a zigzag path to the summit. The trail offers inexhaustible possibilities for exploration in the ravines and forests, and some of the most picturesque scenery in the Cape.
