Dwarskersbos is a tranquil village about 10 kilometres north of Velddrif with beautiful, clean and deserted sandy beaches stretching for almost 40 kilometres north towards Elands Bay, and the sunsets over the vast Atlantic Ocean are a sight to behold.
Long, lazy days, lungs full of fresh air and leisurely walks in the crisp sea breeze are on the menu as you catch a glimpse of the comings and goings of West Coast living.
This sleepy fishing town was established on the farm ‘Dwarskersbos’ that belonged to the Smit family and derived its named from the Euclea polyandra or kersbos (candle bush) that thrive in the area. A little bit further up the coast, before you reach Rocherpan, you’ll stumble upon Kersbosstrand, another sleepy hamlet with a perfect, unspoilt stretch of white sand and calm waters.
