The Drybean Producers’ Organisation (DPO) has multiple partnerships with the dry bean industry that perform a range of functions.
All Drybean Producers' Organisation partnerships are based on the vision to promote the dry bean industry both locally and internationally and secure its reputation with high-quality dry beans.
One of the DPO’s main partners is Beanex, an electronic trading platform that acts as a reliable brokerage in the interest of both dry bean producers and buyers. Producers benefit from Beanex because of guaranteed payments, and buyers benefit because of the quality assurance that Beanex brings.
Dry Bean Seed is another valued partner that produces certified, disease-free dry bean seeds. They specialise in small, white bean and red kidney bean seeds, but source new cultivars on a regular basis. Plantovia tests dry bean seeds for quality and disease resistance.
Their partnership with the Drybean Producers' Organisation (DPO) involves the identification and detection of harmful and specific diseases in the dry bean industry, and the object of these investigations is to determine whether the planting material submitted, complies with the disease tolerances as prescribed in the respective certification schemes.
The Coen Bezuidenhout-Saadtoetssenturm conducts laboratory services and property management for DPO. Their main function is to test dry bean seeds for South African soil, quality and crop yield. Furthermore, the property houses a seed processing plant and storage facilities leased to Dry Bean Seed.
