The Cape Town suburb of Bloubergstrand is situated on the Blaauwberg Coast about 20 minutes drive from the Cape Town city centre and about 30 minutes from Cape Town's Airport. The town owes its name to a nearby hill which appears blue when viewed from vessels approaching Table Bay, and was originally named Blaauwberg (Blue Mountain) by the Dutch.
Much of Bloubergstrand’s attraction lies in its white sandy beaches from which the view of Table Mountain and the city of Cape Town is quite spectacular. It's beaches draws many sunbathers, surfers, windsurfers and anglers while pristine beaches offer breathtaking views of Table Mountain and Table Bay harbour for more than 50 kilometres of this much admired region.
