Augrabies Falls National Park

Place of Great Noise

Trip into the heart of the Green Kalahari region north of Upington, and you will find yourself in a place where kokerbome (quiver trees) and lunar rockscapes rear up from plains as old as the continent itself; we’re talking Planet Aukoerebis, or ‘Place of Great Noise’ in Khoi.

Augrabies Falls on the Orange River, Augrabies National Park.

Here the Augrabies Falls National Park unfolds in all its dramatic splendour, presenting you with one of the world’s largest waterfalls, a strangely unique environment and incredible silence, broken only by the distant duet of fish eagles duelling along the Orange River Gorge. This is a place of extreme temperatures, spring bringing lovely desert flowers, cooking summers and beautiful winter days preceding the big night-time freeze.
