As Pniel is ideally situated in the Cape Winelands, it is the host of an intimate selection of wine estates that produce quality wines from grapes grown in the region.
Bartinney Cellars is situated near Pniel in the fertile Banhoek valley, this estate was established in 1912. Their small pockets of vineyards up the slopes of the Botmaskop create excellent cultivars with body and aroma. The estate produces top quality wines such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Vintage Élevage. Tastings are enjoyed at The Tasting Shed on Bartinney Estate, alongside the beautiful fynbos garden. Truly a spectacular mix of biodiversity and agriculture.
Camberley Wines is a small establishment located along the Helshoogte pass beneath the Groot Drakenstein Mountains. This winery produces a small range of red wines (max. 1000 cases) from 5 acres of land. Visitors can expect an intimate tasting experience, which includes a tour of the cellar.
Le Pommier Wine Estate was originally an apple orchard, now populated with beautiful vineyards. It is located on the 300-year-old Zorgvliet farm, and they produce a range of superb wines, including Le Pommier Malbec Cabernet Franc Rosé and Le Pommier Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve.
Oldenburg Vineyards near Pniel was originally a working fruit farm turned into a vineyard in 2003 by its new owners. Their focus is on quality over quantity, visually represented in the numerous awards their wines have won. Their tasting room has beautiful views of their vineyards, and wines on offer are bottles such as Chenin Blanc 2011, Chardonnay 2010 and Cabernet Sauvignon 2009.
