Things To Do in Sabie

MTB Mayhem

Sabie by bike is a bit like being a kid in a candy store; you can literally choose a different track each day of the week!

The surrounding forests offer dirt tracks galore, while a veritable ‘pick and mix’ of circular and return rides exemplify roadie heaven.

Pool Play

Pack a basket and head for Lone Creek Falls or Mac Mac Pools, or any of a dozen picnic spots in the forest, to enjoy a day of splashing about in crystal-clear natural pools.

Hiking Fun

Lone Creek Falls, Sabie.
The Mac Mac Summit trail is one of those family walks just waiting to be explored. Head up towards the 2 115 m Mauchberg peak via the ubiquitous pine plantations and remnant pockets of indigenous forests for a mind-blowing panorama.
Or tramp out along many a meandering day walk for a well-deserved time-out in nature, or spend a starry night ‘outside’ on the Fanie Botha trail.

Too Much Tom

Admire the view from the monument at the top of Long Tom Pass; this is also where you will find a replica of the Creusot Siege cannon. These war machines with their extended barrels were nicknamed "Long Toms".

Legends of the Fall

Sabie Falls, Mapumalanga.
These are four easily accessible and exquisite waterfalls that dot the forests surrounding Sabie, and there is no excuse not to visit the Bridal Veil, Lone Creek, Mac Mac or Horseshoe Falls. Pack a book, maybe something to snack on and hike into tranquility to spend a delightful day getting high on all those positive ions.
Tree huggers welcome. Visit the Sabie Forestry Museum.
