Cottages are situated next to the Holsloot river, where you can enjoy swimming or tubing in the peaceful waters. There are scenic views of the Breede River Valley and mountains, so be sure to bring your binoculars for some top-notch birding. You can also stay next to a beautiful orchard of oak trees. Dwarsberg is bound to entice any and all nature lovers looking to break away from busy city life and unwind in the tranquility of the Breede River Valley.

Tierkloof 4x4 Trail

The Tierkloof 4x4 Trail lies 10 km from the scenic town of Rawsonville. This circular route is 12 km long and has some particularly challenging spots. It takes up to 4 hours to complete, depending on the diver’s skills. There are steep climbs along a tricky terrain and you’ll have to be cautious of loose rocks. The highest point of the trail is Bloukop, which offers spectacular views of the Western Cape Winelands and the Brandvlei Dam. There is also soft sand to navigate through on the return.

The area surrounding the route is blessed with rich fauna and flora, so nature enthusiasts will delight in the beautiful outdoors.

The Slanghoek MTB Trail is located in the scenic Slanghoek Valley with a backdrop of the Slanghoek Mountains. The route is 13 km and is mostly gravel road and jeep track, along with stream crossings and a ride through vineyards. You’ll be able to do some game spotting and enjoy the beautiful views of the valley and mountains. The trail is perfect for beginner riders or families, but includes a 4 km loop for those who want more of a challenge. It contains a lot of technical bits, including steep climbs and downhills. 

The trail begins and ends at the Slanghoek Wine Cellar, so you can make a day of it and enjoy some wine tasting while picnicking along the river. Take your fishing rod along or a bird book for added enjoyment.
