Wilna Strydom is the creator of Wilna Strydom Ceramics and works from her studio in Pretoria, Gauteng, Her company was started as a passion project, aiming to create beautiful pieces that evoke emotion and convey Strydom’s love for nature.
Strydom’s philosophy is that art should elicit an emotion, one that is unique to the artist. For her, it is joy - seeing the state of the modern world has made her want to spark happiness within people through her artwork.
Strydom’s goal is to make both art lovers and collectors find joy in her work, as the colours, textures and detail create a visual treasure trove. She feels a strong connection with her art, and she lets the theme of the piece speak to her - it dictates her sculpting techniques and ultimately transforms into what it wants to through her masterful hand.
