The main attraction in Paarl is definitely the wine, and there are a plethora of wineries to choose from. Paarl is home to many award-winning wines, as well as the KWV - the largest exporter of local wine, famous for its Cathedral Cellar and the five largest vats in the world under one roof.
The Nederburg host the Nederburg Wine Auction in April, while the Nouveau Wine Festival on Paarl Mountain is hosted by Paarl Vintners. Paarl Vintners is a group of 30 wine farmers in the area who have formed an organization to improve the quality and marketing of Paarl wines. Paarl also boasts 2 brandy producers, Paarl Rock Brandy Cellar and Backsberg, who have been incorporated into the Brandy Route.
Paarl offers much more than just wine, and there is a host of activities for guests to participate in. From 4x4 trails, mountain biking and hot air ballooning, the possibilities are endless.
