Pringle Bay Activities

Something for Everyone

A mere 85 km outside of Cape Town lies the charming Pringle Bay Village, situated in a World Biosphere Reserve and part of the famous Whale Route.

Southern right whales can be seen off the coast at Pringle Bay.

Pringle Bay has a range of activities on offer and is perfect for a quiet weekend away. Visitors can enjoy the pristine beach of Pringle Bay, which is good for swimming, a leisurely walk with dogs or taking the kids for a fun swim in the shallow lagoon, where the Buffels River enters the ocean. Pringle Bay is one of the few bays in South Africa that is north facing and the sunsets are spectacular.

A short drive out of the village there is a safe launch site for your boat. Pringle Bay is 10 minutes away from the penguin colony at Betty’s Bay and the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens. Slightly further afield there are golf courses, wine estates and for some land-based whale spotting, Hermanus.

Walks and Hikes

Kogelberg Highlands hiking trail is an excellent way to explore the area.

There are splendid walks and hikes in the surrounding hills and mountains in Pringle Bay. Brodie Link is the best walk for a combination of stunning views and a more relaxed route. It will take you to the top of the mountain behind the bay, and you’ll have extensive views of the Cape Peninsula. For those with a bit more energy, the Hangklip hike (3.5 hours) offers a longer route to tackle.

Sundowners With a View

Restaurants abound and are within walking distance within the village, for those in the mood for delicious seafood cuisine or a sundowner with an ocean view. Relax and enjoy some time here and you might be able to spot oystercatchers nesting on the beach, and even the occasional dolphin or whale just off the coast.
