Ottoshoop is a small town in the North West Province, situated 20 km from the city of Mahikeng (or still known as Mafikeng). Locals cater to tourists who are attracted to the area to view historical sights and partake in the popular activity of underwater diving.
The town was the commercial capital of South Africa during its boom years from 1879 to 1880, when it was known for its exceptional mining opportunities. The are reserves near Ottoshoop, for nature and game lovers, namely - Molemane Eye Nature Reserve, which is a small reserve and 11 kilometres from the town. Madike Game Reserve is just under 2 hours from Ottoshoop.
