Situated in the Upper Karoo of the Northern Cape, Norvalspont is a small town with typical Karoo charm, lots of history and hillside surroundings that make for the perfect road trip photograph. It lies on the southern banks of the Orange River and is mere minutes away from the popular Gariep Dam, where locals and tourists alike can enjoy a range of water sports.
The town’s name suggests that it was named after its proximity to water, as a Pont is a ferry boat or punt. It is connected by two important bridges that run across the Orange River, and is also an important farming community.
