Naries Namakwa Retreat is a blissfully welcoming guest house in the heart of the Namaqualand in the Northern Cape, South Africa. This relaxing retreat is located 27km outside of Springbok towards Kleinzee.
The history of Naries is about as colourful as the farm itself. Dating back to as far as 1840, the area was previously known as 'Ezelfontein'. In 1932 the name changed to Naries. In 1950 the farm got a new owner in the form of Daantjie Scholtz. With a fierce passion for the region, Daantjie wanted to share Naries with the world. He started remodeling the farmhouse into what it is today. It is now a conservation area where everyone can come and enjoy true Namaqualand accommodation.
A highlight of the area is the beautiful wildflowers on display in Spring (August to October). Witness the colourful carpets of flowers and take lots of photos to make your friends jealous!
Naries Namakwa Retreat also boasts a spectacular array of succulents all year round. Other activities include a 4x4 shipwreck tour, Orange River rafting and a visit to Richtersveld National Park.
