Modjadjiskloof, formerly known as Duiwelskloof, is a small town in Limpopo Province. It can be found close to Magoebaskloof, enveloped by the ramparts of the surrounding Wolkberg Mountains and natural forests.
The town was proclaimed in 1920 and was previously named Duiwelskloof due to the difficulty wagons had trekking through the area in the early 20th century. The town was renamed Modjadjiskloof in 2004 in honour of the Modjadji (or Rain Queen), mystical ruler of the Balobedu people of the area. The Modjadji Royal Palace is a popular tourist attraction, as well as the Royal Modjadji Nature Reserve. The reserve is home to giant cycad trees and is known for its misty weather and atmosphere of otherworldliness.
