Entering the town of Lekkersing.

Lekkersing is a small town in the Namakwa district of the Northern Cape. It is a dusty little town deep in the Richtersveld known for its extreme temperatures and friendly locals. It was established in 1926 by the farmer Ryk Jasper Cloete and it is named after the beautiful ‘song’ made by water bubbling out of a nearby spring.

In terms of things to do, Lekkersing is not as developed as Eksteenfontein. A hike to the Skurwehoogte caves can be arranged, and the Rusoord Club for the Elderly sells arts and crafts from its small shop. The locals are kind and are usually more than happy to tell you stories of the mystical Namakwa region.
