Hazyview: An Adventurers Paradise

The Shangana Cultural Village

Hazyview is small farming town, situated in the Mpumalanga province. It derives its name from the summer haze that occurs over the low-lying bushland in the area. Hazyview is not well known, but it is an adventurer’s paradise.

It is located just a few kilometres outside the more famous Kruger National Park. Hazyview has more to offer than just accommodation for travellers. Today, it has grown to be a fun destination that is worth discovering for a few days.

The local Shangaan people, who have inhabited the region since the 1800s, now inhabit the Shangana Cultural Village. The people of the Shangana Cultural Village have opened up their homes and lives to visitors, in the hopes of enriching and spreading their cultural knowledge to the rest of the world. All tours are guided, to ensure an easy visit and to teach you about the village’s culture and etiquette. You can even join in on the evening festivities in the Chief’s Kraal and buy unique handmade crafts from the locals.

The Heart of Hazyview

One of Hazyview’s biggest attractions is its proximity to the famous Kruger National Park. The Kruger Park offers services to and from Hazyview, for visitors taking game drives or daring bush walks! Hazyview offers visitors the option to experience the wilderness, while still being in the comfort of civilisation.

You do not necessarily have to visit the Kruger Park to enjoy the wildlife, when there are plenty of fun parks right in the heart of Hazyview. The Elephant Sanctuary and Elephant Whispers park all focus on safe interaction with Africa’s gentle giants. These elephants are rehabilitated, rescued, and given a new lease on life. There are special rates for kids all year round.
