Sable antelope are found in abundance at Good Hope Private Reserve near Barkly West.

Situated 40 min from Kimberley and five hours South West of Johannesburg, Good Hope Private Reserve is home to an abundance of wildlife and plantlife that is unique to the arid Kalahari region.

Guests can expect to see antelope such as sable, springbok and kudu, as well as giraffes, buffalo and smaller animals like meerkats, dassies, a variety of reptiles and aardvarks. Birdlife includes fish eagles, Sociable weaver and Kalahari scrub robin.

The reserve caters to a range of functions and events, which includes weddings and team-building activities. Daily game drives are available to guests, and a popular pastime is fly-fishing in the Lower Vaal River.

This area of Barkly West is renowned as the best destination for Largemouth and Smallmouth Yellow fish in the province. Given the importance of conservation-based angling of these species, only catch-and-release is practiced at Good Hope.

Good Hope Private Reserve Accommodation is available at the lodge or bush camp, so guests are able to enjoy either luxury amenities or rough it out in the predator-free wilderness. Good Hope Private Reserve is a must-see destination if you are in Barkly West or on your way to central Kalahari.
