Entabeni Private Game Reserve is known as the ‘the Place of the Mountain’ and is located in the heart of the World Heritage Waterberg Biosphere in the Limpopo province of South Africa. Situated on 22 000 hectares of pristine land, the Entabeni Private Game Reserve is a three-hour drive from Johannesburg and is malaria free.
Housing five unique ecosystems, this reserve has plenty to explore and discover for all types of travellers and holidaymakers. At Entabeni there are more than 55 mammal species, 300 different plants, 380 bird species and a wide range of insects and amphibians.
Expect to see the Big 5 such as the buffalo, lion, elephant, leopard and rhino. Other notable species that are home to the area are giraffe, cheetah, hippo and sable antelope. Explore the craggy rock formations of the upper escarpment and wide open grassy plains. Traverse the lower escarpment, which is 3 degrees warmer, and is made up of sandveld vegetation and wetlands. Enjoy game drives, bush walks, some magnificent stargazing in light pollution free skies.
Take a scenic helicopter ride and experience a birds eye view of the escarpments and plateaus. For the more adventurous there are horse safaris, where you can get much closer to the wildlife on horseback. Or if it is pure relaxation that you are looking for, there is a lakeside spa to ease away your stresses. Off the reserve, but close enough to be enjoyable there is a wildlife and cultural centre, golf and an array of watersports available.
