Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp activities include ample game viewing opportunities and a chance to explore ancient San rock art sites nearby.
At Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp you’ll have easy access to the southernmost region of the Kruger National Park where you can embark on guided excursions led by professional tracker-guides or plan your own self-guided game drives.
If you prefer the latter, be sure to venture along the Tropic of Capricorn loop and make a pitstop at the Nshawu pans to catch some of the most bountiful sightings in the area. Remember to embark in the early morning when it’s not too hot and the animals are most active.
Lace-up your trainers and make your way along the camp’s 2km self-guided Kruger Park safari walk. This loop will take you along the boundary of the camp fence where you can explore safely. Guests in the past have reported sightings of gentle creatures like impala and mongoose as well as those heavy hitters like elephant, rhino and lion. The path will also take you along the camp’s waterhole where you can park off and catch up on your bird watching.
What makes Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp so unique is that you can also add in an element of history to your safari experience. Hidden amongst the rocky hills and surrounding outcrops lies a treasure trove of rock art sites left behind by the San bushman who once inhabited the area. You can admire these ancient paintings along the nearby Bushman Trail.
The great thing about Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp is that you’re in charge of your own schedule. If there’s mornings where you’d prefer to sleep in, or afternoons where you’d like to lounge near the pool, you can certainly do just that. Pop in at the restaurant for a tasty post-game drive meal, or head across to the ladies’ bar balcony to soak up the vistas with a crisp sundowner in hand.
