Addo African Home offers plenty of fantastic activities for nature lovers, families and adventure-seekers. Located a few minutes away from the Addo Elephant National Park, the lodge is the perfect destination from which to explore the park and its many attractions.
The Addo Elephant Park is situated in the dense valley of the Sundays River region, and takes guests on a memorable wildlife experience through the park on a game drive. You’ll be able to see some of South Africa’s most majestic wildlife, including elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, zebra, giraffe and leopard.
Addo has both full-day and half-game drives available, and full-day tours include a delicious braai lunch. Children under 13 years are welcome, and guests opting for a half-day tour can do a morning or afternoon drive.
The river safari gives the chance to nature lovers and bird watchers to see more than 420 species of birds as well as small animals with splendid surroundings. Two guests per canoe are allowed, and the tour is half-day with snacks included.
In the Zuurberg Mountain section of the Addo Elephant Park, there are no encounters with large predators, and guests can enjoy some beautiful scenic views of the mountains, mounted on a horse. The tour lasts two hours and allows for both beginner and experienced riders.
The Zuurberg Mountain section of the Addo Elephant Park has a great hiking trail for adventurers. Deep in the forest, you will experience some incredible sceneries and encounter the wonders of the area’s ecosystem. The hike is not suited for elderly people but does represent an excellent way to exercise and some water pools are available along the hike to freshen up.
Fishing tours are also available, and includes a relaxing day cruising on the water fishing on fresh and salted water.
Addo African Home has a gorgeous natural pool and organic gardens that are great to spend an afternoon in with a good book surrounded by the sounds of nature and a tranquil atmosphere. The gardens include vegetables and berries that are used by the restaurant and cooking school to create delicious meals for guests.
