Kruger National Park Game Drives

The Kruger National Park is home to a plethora of wildlife, birdlife and a variety of plants and smaller mammals that will entice nature lovers and adventurers alike. Guests lodging at Needles can depart from the accommodation to enjoy a full-day safari with a qualified professional guide in either an open-raised or air-conditioned vehicle, or opt for a fabulous sunset drive. 

While on safari, guests will be able to the famous Big 5 (elephant, leopard, African buffalo, lion and rhino), as well as zebra, giraffe, hippo, kudu, hyena, African wild dog, cheetah, various smaller mammals and an abundance of birdlife. Night drives are also quite popular and include sightings of owl species, genets and other elusive animals that only wander out after dark.

Kruger National Park Morning Walk

For guests wanting to get up close and personal to nature, a morning walk through  the Kruger National Park is a must. Two armed and trained rangers take up to 8 people out into the bush for 3 to 4 hours, and if you are lucky, may just be lucky enough to have a Big 5 experience on foot to really get your adrenaline going!

Tiger Fishing

Avid fishermen can take on a tiger fishing excursion and face the fearsome game fish known for putting up a fight. The Komati River, only 20 minutes from Needles Lodge, offers the perfect location to catch one of these awesome specimens. A professional guide, licenses, equipment, bait and your transfers are included to ensure you have a great experience.

Panorama Route Tour

The Panorama Route will entice guests with a love of nature and natural splendour. Experience the breathtaking beauty of rock formations, picturesque waterfalls, landscapes and magnificent views of the Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window and Bourke’s Luck Potholes, as well as Pilgrims Rest, situated in the Lowveld Escarpment. The lodge can arrange the tour, which includes a stop for lunch.

Day Trip to Swaziland or Mozambique

Guests can enjoy the great culture of Swaziland or Mozambique by embarking on a full-day trip through the areas. Both tours include stops at villages for interactions, delicious cuisine and education, as well as local craft markets and traditional attractions.

Marloth Park Activities

Guests residing at Needles Safari Lodge can walk or a jog in the bush and along the Crocodile River and potentially spot majestic wildlife. Explore and learn about the different indigenous trees, grasses and wildflowers growing in Marloth Park's 4300 hectares.

Sit with your binoculars at one of the hides or viewpoints, and see what strolls by. There are over 300 bird species taht have been recorded in Marloth Park, so twitchers will be happy to know that there are lots of birds to spot as well.
