The cliff path at Hermanus is one of the town's most beautiful features, and meanders for 11 km along the rugged coastline. The entire strip of coast is protected within the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, which was proclaimed in 2000 to protect the ecosystem alongside Walker Bay. After a meal at one of Hermanus’ great restaurants, visitors can stroll along the cliff path and enjoy gorgeous views of the Indian ocean.
Located in the fertile Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Hermanus is the ideal departure point from which to explore the area’s fantastic wine estates, wineries and cellars. Known for its world-renowned production of red and white wines, both Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and Walker Bay are home to a number of wine tasting venues that guests can visit for a light lunch, beautiful natural surroundings and memorable hospitality.
Guests lodging in Hermanus that are keen on hiking can visit the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, known for its fantastic trails suited to both beginners and experts. There are approximately 50 km of well maintained trails through the reserve that covers the hills and mountains that encircle the town.
