The Clothing Bank believes that with the right support structure, everyone can create their own wealth by becoming self-employed.

It is a known fact that South Africa faces a number of social challenges, and millions of children nationwide are raised in single-parent households. To compound this, many mothers rely on inadequate social grants for survival and since the majority of them didn’t complete school they struggle to find work that pays a decent living wage.

Fashion retailers produce millions of tons of waste each year. Many customers return merchandise and retailers usually have excess stock they could not sell at the end of a season. This stock then goes to waste as they don’t have the resources or systems to process it.

They approach the development of the women in their programme holistically and have an extensive support system that includes coaching, mentoring and counselling. The objective is that each woman should earn at least R4 000 per month.
