Activities to be enjoyed in town, with its rolling hills and eye-catching natural beauty, are undoubtedly geared towards the outdoors. With that sentiment, hiking is a popular activity for locals and visitors alike. In neighbouring Gouritsmond, mountain biking and hiking trails are available in Gourikwa Reserve, now known as the Reins Nature Reserve. This coastal town often acts as a local holiday destination for many of Albertinia’s farmers.

Within Albertinia’s locale lies one of the Garden Route’s biggest attractions, a prominent and popular game lodge that promises guests iconic Big 5 sightings among a range of local wildlife species. This reputable safari destination is malaria free, allowing guests the freedom to enjoy their stay without fretting about any potential health hazards.

The world's largest hand knitted jumper. A Guinness Book of Records title holder, knitted by twenty-two women of Albertinia.

History, fun, delicious treats - this is the Tuinplaas Museum. This delightful cultural hub is filled with agricultural artefacts, unique pottery and artworks, a nursery from which visitors can purchase plants and a coffee shop for a tasty bite to eat.

In keeping with the town’s eccentric touches, the quirky tuinplaas museum positions itself as a place that people can freely explore. Which is exactly what visitors have been doing since its inception in 2016. Exploration includes feeding the farm animals that mill about, picking up one of the many fairy garden planters for sale, traversing through the tractor exhibit on display and beholding the largest hand-knitted jersey. Which, consequently, is a Guinness World Record holder proudly knitted by twenty-two women of Albertinia.

From title holding status to constant smiling - no doubt the minute one encounters The Royal Ostrich Ancestral Republic aka ROAR, which is apparently always in session and ready for countless photography shoots - visitors are bound to have a memorable experience at this family fun-filled establishment.

Albertinia Museum

Fifteen years ago, the residents of Albertinia invested in upholding the heritage of their tranquil country home. This noble intention resulted in the town’s cultural historical museum known as the Albertinia Museum.

The museum acts as an important site from where anyone can learn about the history of the town. It also doubles as a preservation tool, housing many cultural artefacts that reflect the town’s historical past. Memorabilia, antiques and numerous artworks are on display along with information on the town’s most successful exports: thatch reed and aloe products.

The thatch and aloe industries are major points of commercial success for the town and the region as a whole. Both industries export their products to other countries.
