It is known for its export of crayfish, fish, mussels, oysters and seaweed. Its holiday homes, overlooking South Africa’s largest natural bay, are quite popular.

Walking along Main Road towards the harbour you will come across a variety of well-preserved artifacts in the form of ship anchors, a historic canon and a whale skull. A popular Saturday afternoon activity that you may wish to experience is that of keeping count of the rugby score on a plasma screen at a local pub or watching rugby at Saldanha Rugby Club. For those wanting to take to the ocean, a sunset or picnic cruise with a champagne picnic basket may appeal to some.
