Botrivier is a small farming town in the Overberg region of the Western Cape, South Africa. It lies on the slopes of the Houw Hoek Mountains and is surrounded by fynbos, wheat fields and historical wine farms. The river, also named Botrivier, flows through the town into a large lagoon with extensive wetlands at its mouth. Hundreds of waterfowl thrive in these marshes.
The landscape surrounding the Botrivier is both relaxing and exciting with some scenic mountain biking and hiking trails to conquer. Wildekrans Wine Estate situated between the leafy scenery of Botriver and the sunny beaches of Hermanus sports a vineyard overlooking Walker Bay.
This picturesque 1000-hectare estate tucked away in the beautiful Bot River Valley should be on your next MTB weekend plan. At Honingklip, apart from getting to choose between 3 trails to suit all levels, you are also spoilt by endless views over the Overberg, stretching as far as the Greyton Mountains.
