Vredendal is wine country.

Agritourism in Vredendal is growing and visitors to the town can visit table grape packsheds, wine cellars and farms in the area. Farmstalls sell local produce and a huge wholesale nursery propagating garden plants, succulents and fruit trees often attracts visitors from afar.

The enormous Sishen-Saldanha railway bridge outside of town en route to Lutzville and the old Roman Catholic Church are also worth a visit. The town has various sporting facilities including a 9-hole golf course, parkrun every Saturday morning and a squash court.

The town hosts visitors to several sporting events and music concerts throughout the year, which often coincides with the start of the spectacular spring flowers. Located in southern Namaqualand, Vredendal forms a good base to explore the surrounding Matzikama Region during the wildflower season.

Accommodation options include farm stays on wine farms, self-catering cottages and guesthouses. Mountain biking and 4x4 routes are also available.
