The Eastern Cape town of Uitenhage is nicknamed 'The Garden Town' due to the abundance of beautiful gardens and parks in the area. The town is situated 38 km from Port Elizabeth, and is the ideal retreat for those looking to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

It is a fantastic stopover for visitors en route to the Addo Elephant Park with numerous stops along the way. The town was founded in 1840 and boasts a rich history of architecture preserved in a number of old buildings maintained in excellent condition, like the Town Hall, the Drostdy and the Court House. Victorian architecture also adds to the town's historical attraction.
