It is relatively small in comparison to the rest of South Africa’s reserves, but it rewards visitors with seclusion and intimacy. It really is a haven from those tourist busses and bright city lights.
Tala incorporates diverse natural environments of acacia thornveld, open grasslands and wetlands. It features over 380 bird species, with a further 20 species of antelope, which includes oribi, bushbuck and reedbuck with game in abundance.
This wildlife reserve near Durban, KwaZulu Natal also participates in active conservation efforts with its existing anti-poaching unit serving to protect the resident rhinos.
Meals are served at Tala Restaurant. Find your seat near the fireplace. The views from the two verandas on either side of the restaurant overlook the bush and resident game who often saunter up to graze right as you sample some of the delightful dishes. Meals can be tailored to suit all dietary requirements.
