Early morning Still Bay harbour and estuary.

The main appeal of Still Bay is its outstanding beach – a long, sheltered stretch of sand that seems to run for miles in either direction of the Goukou (formerly the Kafferkuils) River mouth.

Still Bay is quite a large holiday town, certainly the largest since Hermanus, with several shopping centres, restaurants and the obligatory surf-ware shops. Various nature reserves and quiet country villages can be visited in the area.

The fishing is good and watersports are abundant. If you are historically minded, check out the ancient Strandloper fish traps, which are still maintained and used by the locals. These fish traps are only visible at low tide.
