One of South Africa’s premier trout fishing districts, the area of Dullstroom has dozens of lodges and cosy cottages set amid the trout dams. If you’re just passing through, the main street has a good selection of restaurants, clothes and curio shops, and quaint farm stalls that sell home-made produce.
Dullstroom has become the fly-fishing capital of South Africa and also a preferred getaway for busy people in Gauteng. This town is just 2 hours away for a quick escape or stopovers on the way to the Kruger National Park. Extensive trout fishing and fly fishing information and tackle hire is available in Dullstroom and many accommodation establishments also have equipment.
From Dullstroom there are a number of wonderfully scenic routes for visitors to self-drive, including the route through the Lowveld and Pilgrims Rest, Sabie, Hazyview and Graskop, the biggest towns in this South African region.
