Mount Anderson Water Reserve is set just above the town of Mashishing (Lydenburg) in the Mpumalanga Province. The owners, Norma and Michael Rattray have lovingly restored the property as well as the surrounding area which was once overgrazed farming land. In 1993 it was deemed as South Africa’s first-ever private water catchment reserve, serving the local communities as well as the Kruger Park area. As part of conserving water, there is no pool but there are numerous clear ponds in the area which really adds to your experience within the natural environment.
The grassland offers an abundance of flower and bird species as well as various wildlife such as mountain reedbuck, jackals, black wildebeest, zebra, eland and blesbuck. At Mount Anderson Water Reserve the outdoor activities on offer will keep you well entertained, from hiking trails, to mountain biking, horse riding, trout fishing, wildlife safaris, swimming and boating. With all of this sublime space at this Mpumalanga private game reserve, nothing beats a relaxing picnic out in the fresh air simply enjoying the views, while the birds cheer you on from the lush bushveld.
Then, once the suns has set beyond the vista and the stars are out in full force, you can head back to the luxury and absolute comfort of your private room.
