Mpumalanga Province

Chase the sun to the northeastern corner of our Rainbow Nation and you are sure to discover a land of plenty. Mpumalanga, or ‘The Place of the Rising Sun’ is a province blessed with emerald forests, plunging waterfalls, rugged rock formations and a diverse blend of cultures.

Despite being one of South Africa's smallest provinces, it brims with natural grandeur and a rich historic heritage. Kruger National Park is arguably the world's most famous game park, Blyde River Canyon rates as the world's third-deepest canyon, and Sudwala as the oldest cave system on Planet Earth.

The tourism routes are truly bewitching, with unfolding vistas seemingly intent on upstaging the view around the next corner. A well-developed rivalry existing between the quaint villages dotting the region, and towns such as Sabie, Graskop, Hazyview, Waterval Boven and Pilgrim’s each feature a number of not-to-be-missed attractions.

Everything goes, from the exhilarating Graskop Gorge ‘Big Swing’, a weavery tour at Africa Silks, tranquil hikes along indigenous forest tracks, cruising the salacious switchback curves of Long Tom Pass or locking eyes with Big 5 beasties. And then the Highlands Meander beckons too, with its grassland plains, cool mountain air and clear trout brooks ... so what are you waiting for?
